At bootup. XP Pro system gets the registry error each time:  "STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file):  \Sysroot\System32\Config\Software or it's log or alternative.  It is corrupt, absent or not writable.  Beginning dump of physical memory."

How can I clear this error up and get to some general bootup so I can run scan disk on the HDD from the Admin logon?  Must I call it into manufacturer for repair?
