Locked Database in MS Access 2003

Hi,

One of my users was using a DB this morning and his system crashed, upon which Access created a Lock file and did not delete it.
When trying to delete it, it says it is still in use.
We tried restarting his machine, but the same occurs.
The DB is on a network drive.
He is an admin on the DB. when he tries to open it, it tells him that only the admin can edit the DB, which is him.

Any idea?

Thanks

Are you able to reboot the actual system where the LDB file resides on the network?

I'm afraid I can't do that no...
I have this problem usually once per week where I work, however ... if I reboot the workstation ... I have always been able to delete the ldb file.  Although, I don't have the 'admin' issue you are referring to.  I usually need to replace the mdb with a new version, etc., so I need the ldb file to be gone.

What happens if you try to replace the mdb associated with that lock file ?

When trying to delete it, it says it is still in use, so I assume I'll get the same error if I try to rename it or replace it
I meant replace the MDB, not the ldb ...

Actually, when I looked on the server itself, no lock file shows.
The actual file ext of the DB is .mde.

Clue anyone?
Try copying the MDE file to a new location and see if you can open the copy.  If you can then you should still have the power to delete the original and replace it with the copy.

After that...  I'd pull out some hammers...

Ahhh ... am I missing something here?  I thought we were talking about a stuck LDB (lock) file ?  If not, then what exactly is the problem?
