ah well there you got me because I'm not a MAC guy, you got me through the Backup group and all the Windows backup programs that I've worked with do see networked drives. <br />

By I was thinking along the lines of mapping the NAS so it looks like a local drive.

One of my clients has a Mac OSX Server with approx. 300GB of data on a 500GB Internal RAID. They would like a backup solution....<br />
<br />
They already have a 1TB LaCie (Windows) NAS on their network, not doing a lot! Is there any software for Mac that can backup to this NAS over the network. I have heard of NetVault by Bakbone.... any others? Can Retrospect handle this?<br />
<br />
Or any other better suggestions than using the NAS?<br />

Mac Backup Software for a WIndows NAS?

Computer data storage, often called storage or memory, is a technology consisting of computer components and recording media used to retain digital data. In addition to local storage devices like CD and DVD readers, hard drives and flash drives, solid state drives can hold enormous amounts of data in a very small device. Cloud services and other new forms of remote storage also add to the capacity of devices and their ability to access more data without building additional data storage into a device.

The term "Backup" means the methods and processes involved to copy computer data (system data as well as application data) to media other than the ones where the data originally live (disk, tape, optical, cloud).
