Realtek HD Audio Driver - sound problem (no MIDI)
(configuration Windows XP Home SP2, MB: Intel D915GEV, sound chipset: Realtek ALC880)

I have a problem with sound, especially playing MIDI files.
After installation of latest Realtek HD Audio Driver 1.80 i can't play MIDI files.
At AUDIO tab on control panel nothing is selected in the section "Playing MIDI music" and on VOICE tab there is nothing selected in "Playing Voice" section.
I can choose sometin from the drop-down list, but it's not remembered.
There are no problems or exclamations on Devices List and there is no problem with sound when playing MP3 files, games, or video files - just MIDI.
I tried to install 1.79 version (where everything was ok) - no change.
I tried to uninstall these drivers, uninstall devices (restart), run Driver Cleaner (restart) and install again (restart) - no effect.
I remember that I didn't restart windows directly after installation of Realtek HD Audio Driver 1.80 - I also installed Microsoft Intellitype 6.2 drivers, and then restarted.
From that time also intellitype software doesn't work well - mute, volume up/down actions does not work.

How can I fix it?

if you suppose your install is not correct, try a system restore to a previous date, and install them again

I do not have the actual link, but in order to properly install "HD Audio" device, there's a microsoft driver that has to be installed before the sound driver. Uninstall sound driver, google for Microsoft High Definition Audio Driver, install that, and install Realtek again

I had UAA driver already installed - Realtek installs it before sound driver if UAA driver is not present.
