I have several Netware 6 servers.
They are all version 6, SP5e
eDirectory patched up to 6.3.9
Do I need to install security service 2.0.5 in order to install IDM 3 ?
I tried to install it but it said it needs Netware 6.5.
Is there a way to install that manually ? without using the install script.
I think I need those security modules updates  (NMAS, NICI, PKI, etc.)

Unfortunately you can't.

You're behind the 8 ball here.  IDM3 requires, in addition to NetWare 6.5 (among others) but not NW6:

> Minimum of eDirectory 8.7.3 with latest SP - you've got eDirectory 8.6.3.9?
> iManager 2.5 or 2.6 - NetWare 6.0 supports, at best, iManager 2.02.

Usually, Novell product licenses are for the version you get the license for "and prior."  That means if you must install it on NetWare 6, you could probably install IDM 2.0 - if you can get the media.

Otherwise, you'll need to use another supported platform.  If not NetWare 6.5 or OES, you could use SuSE Linux Enterprise 9 or 10, or RedHat ES 4.0, or AIX 5.2L, or Solaris 8, 9 or 10, or Windows 2000 or 2003 (not 64-bit) server, or a couple other OS choices.  Just not NetWare 6.0.

Some services can run on NW6 but the metadirectory system can't run on NetWare 6.

Sorry, my eDirectory is 8.7.3.9.
Another thing, I added Windows 2000 SP4 (one of the Windows domain controller) to join into the NDS tree.
Is that possible to install IDM 3 and iManager 2.7 on that server ?

Probably.  It's one of the supported platforms listed in the docs.

According to what you said, there is no hope to install IDM 3 on Netware 6.
I had no experience with running eDirectory on Windows.
I have no choice but try this  the first time.
Anythings, I need to pay extra attentions?
We run Windows 2000 AD, Netware eDirectory, and users sign on both networks.
That is why we want to try IDM.
DHCP and DNS  run on Windows 2000.
Netware servers don't run DNS or DHCP, any concerns ?
Netware servers are used for file sharing only, no printing or applications on them.

I set a network and tried to install IDM 3.51 on the Netware 6 server.
The test Netware server is patched to the same level as production server, and other modules: NICI, NMAS, PKI, JVM, ... are the same level as as the production one as well.
It did let me install IDM 3.51 except it asked "the NMAS is not version 3.0.9 or above, Do you want to continue ?"  Is this OK to run IDM 3.51 with NMAS 2.3.9 ?
