Ok, this is not a development qeustion.  I'm working for an average client who is having lots of trouble with reading pages off the web.

Cannot seem to get any automatic download from the web, for example, anything off download.com or adobe.com does not work.  I do not see any prompt for any activeX control and no pop up blocker is installed.

I have releived the security settings to as low as it can go on the internet setting, and I have uninstalled IE 7 and had the same problem in IE 6.  My next plan is to reinstall IE 7 but I can't imagine it will solve the problem.

I have turned off all pop up blocker and have held down the ctrl button just to be sure but still nothing.  I have the latest version of java as well.

Any ideas here?  I am out.  This all started about a month ago when I had to run a rigorous bunch of programs to erradicate spyware and viruses.

Are you sure the virii/spyware are gone?

It may be browser damage from the virii, try repairing IE

Other than that, try creating a new user account, and see if the problem persists, it may be profile corruption

Thanks for your help, good advice.  I'll bet I can use this tool for all of IE's little F ups.
