i can't preview forwarded emails ".eml" or view many embedded pictures in files

i get an error trying to open outlook files that says "the file cannot be opened because of an error with the following previewer: microsoft office message and item previewer" and then i can't open the forwarded msg.  it's not even a file, it's an outlook message... and this happens ALL THE TIME.  i also get RTF or HTML emails where i can't see the graphics.
