Search of indexing service fails

I am trying to do a search of my indexing service for the text "2-1-1". When I do this, I get the error, "They query contained only ignored words." However, this is valid text that is on several pages of our website. Can I turn off the setting that tests for ignored words? I would like to search any phrase that is typed in.

This is becuase a dash - is counted as a minus - it is removing pages from your search that contain that information - in other words you are saying I want to see something that doesnt contain this but I am not going to give you any criteria to find an answer for me. Its basically saying - huh what are you looking for so far you have only told me what you are NOT looking for
try "2-1-1" or 2 1 1 or '2-1-1' or "2 1 1" and see what results you get
Most search engines have a "stopword list" - certain words like 'and' and 'the' that are so common that they are not indexed.  It may be that your search engine includes single digits like "1" and "2" on the list.  You may be able to edit the list, or set the threshhold lower.

I worked for a major search engine in the late 90's that included single letters as stopwords.  One of the ten most popular user queries was "x files".  It yielded no useful results.
