My customer change laptop to Windows Vista and lost terminal license. Now he is in hospital and new temporary license is ending. How to remove temporary terminal license from registry. In WIndows XP it was possible by remove keys Hardware ID and Store. It does not working in Vista. After removing such keys there is no possibility to connect to terminal server Windows 2003.

Hi slawomirs,

Just to confirm, the registry key to delete on the PC in order to clear the license is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSLicensing\ - delete that whole folder.

You will probably find that when you run the terminal services client again, the registry key isn't re-created. To have it re-created, run mstsc.exe as Administrator:

click start, run, type mstsc (but don't press enter) - it should search and find mstsc.exe - right click that and choose "Run as Administrator".

You only have to run as Administrator the first time so that it can re-create that registry key.

Let me know how you go.

Cheers,
Daniel
