I am thinking about getitng a Mac, obviously the Mini is slick, small and stylish, oh and cheap, but with its current spec, (lowest) with no mods is it capable of running programs like dreamweaver, final cut pro and other such progrrams !

Yes it will run, the Intel Core 2 Duo chip is a pretty powerful little performer.

3 issues.
1. Either get an upgrade to 2Gb RAM from Apple or save a $$$ and buy and install 3rd party RAM yourself. 1Gb is the bare minimum and 2 is better.
2. The on-board graphics on the mac-mini are fine for standard use but will not help with video editing using something like Final Cut Pro - which will work but not near full capacity
3. The HD in both versions of the mac mini are small so you either buy and alternative HD and install it yourself or look at the excellent NewerTech miniStack external drives - http://www.newertech.com/products/externalhd.php.  I'd recommend the external drive option as you can get extra USB & firewire ports too.

I've a macmini which I use as a Home PVR to watch and record TV and enjoy music and photos as a media centre.  It also makes a great little web server.  It makes an average video editing and graphic production computer!!
