I have a user that all of the sudden is missing their junk mail box.  And occasionally they have important mail delivered there.  I found a solution- start, run outlook /resetfolders .  Will this delete any mail or change there current folder configuration.   We are using an exchange server and outlook 2003.

Hello level9tech,

Outlook /resetfolders command restores missing folders for the default delivery location. The command will not delete any mail.

Hope this helps!

The subfolders under Inbox should not be affected.  But to be sure, backup the PST file.

level9tech,

There may be another way if we knew what user did with the Junk Mail folder in the first place.  Did he or she delete the folder?  If so, you can try undeleting it from Deleted Items folder.

Use the command line is the quickest way to get the Junk folder back.

Thanks war1 it worked.

I have another question.
After I reset the folders the junk mail box came back, but there is no mail in there, where would  that mail have been going?  Did it go to the Inbox?

level9tech,

Glad you got the Junk folder back. The emails in Junk folder are deleted.  You created a new folder.
