Hi Hakeem,

Occaisonlly, there is a problem with mpgs depending on the codec used to create the file.  Your best bet here may be to find a third party converter (like ffmpeg or WinFF) to convert the file to something else, then import it to Premiere

Hi jason1178,
It sonds okay to conver the files into another file format but shouldn't AP deals with this kind of most well known formats?!! I think that there is a problem with AP itself which needs to be fixed, otherwise how can we explain that AP can't deal with files like MPG. And by the way, these videos were taken by the most recent SONY camcorder.

I also tried WinFF but it didn't convert the files well. There was a problem with each file I convert. Any more ways on how to fix this?

Regards,
Hakeem

Mpgs are not all equal...depending on what created the file, there could be codec issues that causes Premiere to reject it.  My little panasonic camcorder creates mpgs as well, but nothing on earth can open the file it creates except the camcorder itself.  I have to authored the mpgs to a DVD via the camera and then use VOB2MPG to get a cleaner version.

Did the camcorder create these files expecting to write them to a DVD?  If so, they may be authored and that will cause some issues too.

If you think it's an Adobe issue, reinstall Premiere.  My guess is that you will have the same issue after the install.
