Need to format Corrupted Flash Memory on 3Com switch

I have a 3Com 4500 managed switch. During the configuration process, I managed to use most of the memory of the device. In the process, the boot file and application file have been deleted. I have tried several times to reload the files to the device, but to no avail. It says there is not enough flash memory available to load the 2 files. With the application files active, I was able to format the memory and reinstall the files. Now that the app is not available, I cannot format the flash memory. The boot menu does not allow formatting of memory, only copying of files to the device. Did I brick this switch?

I cannot remember specifics but I had something similar happen to a 3com about 4 years ago.  3com can repair for a fee (if memory serves)  Contact support and see what they say http://esupport.3com.com/
