Apache Console dos command box stays on screen, is this normal

when I start apachi the dos window with start apache in console at the heading stays open on my
screen and that is all that happens.

Is this normal because PHP works fine along with Apachi so I assumed it was but its bugging me

If you're starting it from the windows command console, then, yes, that's normal.  If it bugs you, you may want to do some research on setting it up as an NT service.
