setting sessions

Hi,
I'm using the following lines to set an array

$_SESSION["barea"][0] = "Test";
$_SESSION["bareaf"][1] = "test.php";

but when i try to echo them they are blank, anybody know what the problem is?

did you use session_start() in the 2 pages?
