All tables white background - except a few - css

I'd like to set all my table backgrounds to white in css -- but then define just a few tables to NOT use the white the background.

So in css file:
table {background-color:  #FFFFFF;}

Then for the tables I don't want to be white?
.tablewithoutwhitebackground {???}

I'm trying to avoid having to set every singe table with bgcolor within EACH page.  I also don't want to use a div or a style or a span on each page for those tables I want white.

I know how to set table background to a color using CSS - but not how to make it use a different style that the table {xxx} style.

Is there a css style tag to NOT set a background color?  

Know what I mean?

Quite simple to do

.tablewithoutwhitebackground {background: transparent;}
