OneNote ink shifts around

Why does OneNote ink sometimes shift around? Examples: signatures get scrambled and become unledgible; checks next to items can shift up or down or left or right. It doesn't take much of this shifting to introduce major uncertainty into pages of notes you've taken.

Hello,
To be honest, I have not worked much in OneNote - but Office-based applications can have some common items to check - so I'll throw in a couple ideas.

I know there are service packs available for ON2003, so ensure you have all the updates by going to:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/default.aspx
-- Then click the 'Office Update' link in the upper-right-corner above 'Get Updates Now'
- Follow the directions to scan-for and install the latest MS Office-based updates.

Also try OneNote's Detect and Repair capability but opening OneNote > Help > Detect and Repair.  This will scan through the installed files and try to find any corruption.

I am also assuming you are using OneNote 2003, if 2007 look here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825926

Wish I could provide more -- Good luck!

This is a known issue with all versions of Onenote up to and including 2010.  If you have Onenote 2003, you may wish to try this fix:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/837843.   It does not appear to be a universal fix however.

Onenote 2010 has an internal build which is in current testing:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/johnguin/archive/2010/06/30/fix-for-ink-moving-and-shifting-bug.aspx

However they are no longer seeking beta testers for the fix and the final patch is not yet available. Sort of sucks that the same bugs has been unfixed for 7+ years.
