problem with user profile

one user on my company have problem when he delete icon from his desktop and doing logoff or restart the icon still apeare how i fix it?

Hello buildingit,

Are you usinf roaming profiles? if so make sure the user has rights to the folder that conatins the profile - and ensure that the profile is not a manditory profile (cannot be changed) - look in the profile id the users has an ntusr.dat file it is adle to be updated if its called ntds.man then it cannot be changed and thats the problem
OR if you dont have roaming profiles ansure the following has not been set on the client PC

Default behaviour for XP is to save the desktop configuration on exiting the operating system.


[Start] [Run] [Regedit]
Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Modify/Create the Value Data Type(s) and Value Name(s) as detailed below.
Data Type: REG_DWORD (Dword Value) // Value Name: NoSaveSettings
Setting for Value Data: [0 = Disabled / 1 = Enabled]
Exit Registry and Reboot
