BTBroadband Hub and phone question

I was on the broadband phone and then the normal landline number rang and I answered it. The broadband phone then cut off and when I redialed who I was talking to on the broadband phone,
I was connected into the call that was on my normal line . In therory I could hold a conference call because I had the same person on the normal and broadband phones.

Is this normal cos I thought that broadband phone was on VoIP.

I have the correct filer fitted.
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=97672&C=Maplin&U=SearchTop&T=filter&doy=19m11 this one from Maplin brought just over a month ago. It is in the only BT wall socket in the house and I only have the broadband and landline phone plugged into it.

Can anyone help.

Is your VoIP telephone number the same as your landline number?

If it is then perhaps BT consider them to be the same line which causes this problem.
If you use a different service provider for VoIP then you should not get this problem.

When the broadband phone cut off did the rest of your internet access continue to work?

No the internet went off and the VoIP number is a different no to the landline. Its a BT phone line and its the BT isp hub with the broadband phone.

How many phones do you have around the house?
Do you have a filter attached to each one?

Ive got 2 phones in the house. 1 on the land line and the other connected to the modem. Both are in the same socket which has the filter that shown on the link at the top. This is the main socket from the street and no extensions

As a first step I would try a different microfilter incase the one you have is not working correctly.
If that doesnt help then you will need to contact BT to report the problem and the fact that you have tried different filters.
