During the publishing stage on framework 2.0 uncheck
the "allow this precompiled site to be updatable".

Another alternative to these is to copy the files directly from your
development environment as the aspx pages define there CodeBehind pages in
there header tags. Either method will work. Option 1 is faster.

Sometime wrong names in the inherits section also could be the issue.
Compiler Error Message: BC30456: ‘InitializeCulture’ is not a member of ‘ASP.login_aspx’.

ASPNET: Make sure that the class defined in this code file matches the ‘inherits’ attribute, and that it extends the correct base class (e.g. Page or UserControl).
Login is ambiguous in the namespace MyNameSpace.MyApplication
I had a source code with .aspx file containing

< %@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="Login.aspx.vb" Inherits="MyNamespace.MyApplication.Login" %>

So, for some reason I changed CodeFile to CodeBehind , problem is fixed. Now

Well, this is just my family website, and this is the way I"m loging users in (they all use same password):

Partial Class _Default
    Inherits System.Web.UI.Page

    Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
        Select Case txtPassword.Text
            Case ""
                panNote.Visible = True
            Case "Visiting"
                If txtUID.Text = "Visitor" Then
                    Session("User") = "Visitor"
                    Response.Redirect("Home-Visitor.aspx")
                Else
                    panNote.Visible = True
                End If
            Case "password"
                Session("User") = txtUID.Text
                Response.Redirect("Home.aspx")
            Case Else
                panNote.Visible = True
        End Select
    End Sub

    Protected Sub btnOkay_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnOkay.Click
        panNote.Visible = False
    End Sub
End Class

And then the Home page is like this, to confirm correct password was entered:
Partial Class Home
    Inherits System.Web.UI.Page

    Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
        Select Case Session("User")
            Case ""
                Response.Redirect("Default.aspx")
            Case "Visitor"
                Response.Redirect("Home-Visitor.aspx")
            Case Else
                lblWelcome.Text = "Welcome, " & Session("User") & ". Enjoy your visit."
        End Select
    End Sub

End Class

Open in new window

Actually, that doesn't confirm password, just user.

Okay, well, this is fine: I unchecked the "allow this precompiled site to be updatable", as per spprivate's recommendation. So thanks, spprivate. I appreciate the help.
