A lot depends on how many listners you are expecting, and most importantly what sort of Internet connection you have in respect to speed and available bandwidth.

Streaming (audio and/or video) uses a tremendous amount of bandwidth - and if your uplink is running at less than 2Mbps you will not be able to accomodate much more than 4 or 5 listners before you start getting drop-outs.

A good place to start is the free (GPL) open source media streaming server IceCast - that runs on both Linux and Windows platforms. It will handle MP3 and various other streaming protocols - but not WMA (windows media) streams.

If you want to stream WMA then you need to look at Microsoft's streaming products - again if you only have a few listners then you can use Widows Media Encoder (maximum of 5 connections).

If you can be a little more specific about your exact needs - such as what media streams you want to transmit and how many connections you anticipate and at what quality you want to transmit - then a more specific answer would be possible.

well bandwidth isnt an issue its burstable up to a 100mbps, we are already using a windows encoder, everything works fine
the problem is we there is a massive delay on the user side up to 20seconds.
we want to be able stream with any possible app that give us realtime audio for about 100 users may be even more  any suggestions (it does not need to be streaming push technology)
