I am developing (trying to) a web page that interacts with the user. I am using Visual Studio .NET 2003. When opening files, asking for more input, showing erros, etc which scripting would be the safest to use, java, VB, cgi or what? Or does it really make any difference other than my preferences.

You should use Javascript, vbscript will not work with browsers such as Firefox Mozilla.
