BlackBerry Calendar Alert Reminder not functioning

For some reason my BlackBerry Curve is no longer issuing me an alert (reminder) when an appointment comes up.  I have a feeling something changed in my BB Profile settings or in the Calendar app options, but I'm not sure where to look.  Our BES server keeps the BlackBerry synchronized with Outlook and there is no problem with the wireless sync in both directions.  My Outlook Reminder will still pop up, but the BlackBerry doesn't do anything.

On the BB open the “Calendar” then goto “Options”
“Wireless Synchronization” should be “Yes”, if not change the option to “Yes”.
If the option is “Yes” then change the option to “No”, wait 1 minute and change the option back to “Yes”.
This will trigger the resynchronization of the “Calendar”

I tried to de-select Wireless Synchronization, wait 1 minute, and then re-select it, but it didn't help.  As I mentioned before, there is nothing wrong with my wireless synchronization in either direction.  It is just that the BB no longer reminds me when the event / appointement is about to occur.

While I had selected "No" for Wireless Sychronization, I tried to create a test appointment just on the BB and it still did not pop up a reminder.  My current BB Profile is set up for Calendar with Vibrate+Tone when Out of Holster and Vibrate when In Holster.  Even if I switch to my profile called "Loud", nothing occurs on my BB when and appointment reminder is supposed to pop up.

Maybe there's a policy setting somewhere in the BES server that controls this?

Problem solved.  BlackBerry has issued a Calendar patch which addresses this issue on smartphones with certain versions of the BB software (in my case, it was 4.2.2.89, but could also be other 4.2.2.x versions affected).  See the following link for details about the patch:

Once I applied the patch, the reminders began to work as expected.
