Removing or transfering DRM protection from wma files

I'm upgrading my girlfriends computer and she has some files in wma DRM format and some files in apple DRM format (i think it is aac). How do i transfer or remove these restrictions. I read the help file in microsoft. It said: 'oh, so you copied the files in DRM fornat, looks like your S-O-L, sucker! well, you could always uncheck the box you didn't know was checked and re-rip all the cds you spent hours ripping already'

Removing DRM on WMA files can be done (if the DRM allows) by burning the files to CD as audio tracks (normal CD format) and then re-ripping. Unfortunately, since ripping is lossy this may will reduce the overall quality. Normally though, if you go back to the online vendor whence you made your original purchase they usually make provision for migrating DRM files.

In the case of CD's that were accidentally ripped using DRM if you just move them you'll acquire new licence from Microsoft the first time you try to open one. You can do this up to 10 times.
