Can RIS be used to install updates, patches and application software onto remote client machines?

RIS can only be used to install an OS including applications onto a bare PC (= image dump).

If you want to install patches for MS products, you need WSUS.

If you want to install application software on existing PCs, you need a software distribution tool like Altiris.
