Crystal XI Error: 0x8004380D

We have created a Crystal report using SQL Command to identify the data tables, and a simple ODBC connection to the SQL 2005 database.  The report has dynamic parameters. The Crystal XI and the SQL are on the same machine.  The error message 0x8003480D seems to cover a multitude of sins.

Do you have permissions to the columns for the prompts?

Is this from an application or the Crystal dsigner?

When does the error occur?

we should have permissions - as database sa.    The error occurs when running from Crystal.  It occurs upon launch, after the report prompts for user ID and password (which is the same as that in the ODBC DSN)

Assuming you enter a valid username and password it should work.

Did you connect the report to the ODBC coammnd?

the initial problem was that there was a databse function in the sql command that seemed to have been deleted.  so, it could not find the fn, and failed.

I seem to be having some other issues now - again showing with this generic error code.  Most recent one is an invalid printer file (?)
