Run command from installing software to run from network

I'm trying to write a script that will do an unattended install.
"SILENT=YES ESRI_LICENSE_HOST=d60-sarcgis InstallDir=C:\arcgis APPMODE=ArcInfo INSTALLLEVEL=1000 INSTALL_TYPE=CUSTOM" are the parameters i'm using already but there's one that i can't find.  it's the option that says "Entire Feature will be installed to run from the network"
Does anyone know how to trigger this parameter?

Hi cvoutour

You need AddLocal, the issue with ArcGIS is you need to include every single feature, it doesn't include AddLocal=All.  I've attached my commandline below, this installs All Features, you can narrow it down of course, if you look at the ArcGIS Installation Guide it actually lists which Features are available for each different class, now one thing to note, this won't run from commandline and cannot be depoyed by Microsoft SMS as is.  I wrapped it with InnoSetup which also allowed me to do a conditional installation and also setup users directly with ArcGIS Server.

Hope that helps.

Cheers
Setup.msi ESRI_LICENSE_HOST=SERVER SOFTWARE_CLASS=Editor INSTALLDIR="%PROGRAMFILES%\ArcGIS92" INSTALLDIR1="%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Python24" /QB ADDLOCAL="ArcMap,ArcCatalog,ArcReader,Python,.NET_Support,SpatialAnalyst,Civic_Business,Civic_CADD_GIS_Center,Civic_CADD_GIS_Center_SDS200,Civic_CADD_GIS_Center_SDS_220,Civic_Civic,Civic_CrimeAnalysis,Civic_Dimension,Civic_Hazmat,Civic_Ordnance_Survey,Civic_PublicSigns,Civic_RealEstate,Civic_Survey,Civic_Transportation,Civic_Utilities,Civic_Water_WasteWater,Natural_Caves,Natural_Conservation,Natural_Environmental,Natural_Forestry,Natural_Geology24K,Natural_Mining,Natural_Petroleum,Natural_Petroleum_UK,Natural_SoilEuro,Natural_Weather,TemplateConservationLandscape,TemplateLandscapeClassic,TemplateLandscapeModernInset,TemplateGeneral,TemplateIndustry,TemplateLandscapeModern,TemplateLetterLandscape,TemplateLetterPortrait,TemplateMilitaryPortrait,TemplatePortraitClassic,TemplatePortraitModern,TemplatePortraitModernInset,TemplateUSA,TemplateUtility,TemplateWorld" /NORESTART

Wow matrixnz, that was great.
I'm actually running these commands in Vs2005 so will i be able to run those from there?  I'm unfamiliar with Innosetup.
And finally, the script you posted;  is that for the "Entire Feature will be installed to run from the network" setup?  I'm pretty sure all the features will be fine.
Thanks again

Hi cvoutour

Q1.I'm actually running these commands in Vs2005 so will i be able to run those from there?
A1.I'm not sure to be honest, it should do, but haven't tried so..

Q2.Is that for the "Entire Feature will be installed to run from the network" setup?
A2.Yes, AddLocal installs the features locally
note: While looking over the installation information, there is actually a switch ADDLOCAL=ALL which installs the base product but doesn't install any of the subfeatures as mentioned in my first post.  So if you do not require the subfeatures you could use ADDLOCAL=ALL.

Q3.It's for arc workstation, does this change things?
A3.Do you mean ArcGIS Desktop 9.2? or ArcInfo Workstation?

Here is a link which lists all the different ArcGIS Subfeatures from ArcGIS Desktop to ArcInfoWorkstation?
http://downloads.esri.com/support/whitepapers/ao_/ArcGIS_Managed_Setups.pdf

The innosetup installation I have was for ArcGIS Desktop 9.2, it also included an uninstaller for ArcGIS Desktop 9.0.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Thanks again, i found i can do it in vs2005
I found the info for workstation as you suggested in the install guide

The only thing that concerns me is 'addlocal' sounds like it install it to your local machine.  there's also an 'addsource' feature that sounds to me like it would be the option i'm looking for.
I'll try both options in any case and you've been a great help.
If you have any insight on this last inquery, i'd appreciate it but you definitly helped me out.

Hi cvoutour

Sorry I misread your original post twice, I really need glasses :-)  I kept reading it as install, rather than run from the network.  Doh!

Although ArcGIS Desktop and or ArcInfo WorkStation can be run from the network, ESRI advised me it was not advised, mostly because of the large data sets that it uses, however if you do wish to run it from the network, then you'll need to create a custom MST file, however word of warning, I used this method for ArcGIS 9.0 and found that ArcGIS wouldn't install on systems with Windows XP SP2 with DEP switched on, I had to switch DEP off before it would install.  The new method I use as set out above doesn't have this issue but then it's also installing all the features locally.

Cheers

i work for a company that has been running this system for years so whatever they're doing, I think they have it figuered out :).
As far as the custom MST, can you point me in any direction for that?  I tried using Orca and a tool that allowed you to create MSTs, but I dont know where that option is.  I dont know what the DEP switch either :S

Hi cvoutour

Under the Feature Table add 1 to each of the Feature "Attributes" so for e.g. if it was 8 add 1 to make it 9, you could also try me commandline above with the AddSource option, cannot guarantee it will work but it may be a little easier if you're unfamiliar with Orca.  I personally use Installshields AdminStudio which allows you to create a response MST file which makes things alot easier then editing manually, but it's costly to purchase, I think it cost me around $7000.00 NZD, but it does make things easy.

Cheers
