I've tried loading and reloading different versions of JRE, but the software is supposed to require 1.4.2_10 which is what I am using when this error occurs.  Can anyone help?

Thanks very much.

It turns out the problem was related to a bad Internet Explorer (either a patch or something that a 3rd party installation did to it.)  When I installed the entire software stack on a freshly installed OS, with a new and upadated IE, everything worked perfectly.
