Audio Drivers

Hello Experts, My company just recently bought a few laptops with Vista Home. Like we all know, Vista is not the best right now for corporate needs. However, this is my problem. I deployed Windows XP Pro on the laptops but i have been having problems with the audio.

The audio hardware is SigmaTel STAC9205 and I cant find a suitable driver for Windows XP Pro.

Please help me find the driver.

Hi,
I found this on the net : http://www.station-drivers.com/page/sigmatel.htm
There might not be drivers for XP, some of the new equipments now are only available for vista !

Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs.
Select "SigmaTel Audio" and click on "Change/Remove". If "SigmaTel Audio" does not appear on this dialog, then go to the Alternative method section.

Alternative method:
Select  on the Hardware and Sound dialog.
Select "Control Panel" from the Start button menu
Select "System" from the "Control Panel"
Select the Hardware tab and click the "Device Manager" button
Click on the plus sign (+) next to "Sound, video and game controllers" to display "SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC".
Right-click on "SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC" and select "Uninstall"
This will uninstall the previous SigmaTel audio device driver from your system.
You can now install an updated driver or reinstall the previously working driver.
You can download a driver for this Audio device for XP here:
http://ftp.dell.com/audio/R108276.exe

Thanks for the quick replys but i tried the drivers and it says that the driver is not compatible.

Any other suggestions?

SigmaTel STAC9205 is a High Definition Audio Driver. You will also need the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio class driver. Once we know exactly which laptop you're working with, finding the drivers will be easier.

Ok, i installed the Universal Audio Codec successfully. Then when i tried the gateway driver it gave me a compatibility error.

Please confirm a site for the universal audio codec please

Does this work and make sure that in the "Device Manager", under "Sound" there is no dirver installed, and if there is, uninstall before trying this. Thank You

How can i uninstall this. it is not giving me an option to uninstall the legacy drivers.

I'm looking for drivers for my Dell Inspiron 1720, which also uses the SigmaTel STAC9205.  I tried the Dell link above given by EskoCruz.  That driver did not work.
