Mozilla Composer? Looks like that product has been retired.

Not sure where you went wrong, so here's the procedure:

Paypal buttons are pretty easy to use, at least the way I've done it. You can:
1) sign in to Paypal,
2) enter the Merchant Tools section,
3) click the Buy Now Buttons link in the Key Features section
to get to a form you fill out that ends up with button HTML code for you.

You end up with something like this abbreviated version:

<form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post">
<input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_xclick">
...more stuff here...
<input type="hidden" name="bn" value="PP-BuyNowBF">
<input type="image" src="https://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/btn/x-click-but23.gif" border="0" name="submit" alt="Make payments with PayPal - it's fast, free and secure!">
<img alt="" border="0" src="https://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/scr/pixel.gif" width="1" height="1">
</form>

It's nicely presented in a field you can copy. If you're pasting into Composer, make sure you copy the HTML code from Paypal and paste it into an HTML view of your web page. Just make sure you've got the insertion point at the right place.
