ASA Setup With Cable Modem?

Hello, is anyone familiar with the ASA setups attached to Cable Modems? I have a device I'd like to test out with my home connection which is Cable Access. Do they ASA's support this configuration? Thanks in advance!

Yes, since most cable modem based service providers use DHCP to acquire the public IP address for your edge device (ASA).  Just configure the outside interface on the ASA 5505 (which would be VLAN 2) for DHCP and see if that works.

It's possible they're using static IP address assignment, but the majority of the cable companies use DHCP.

Great, thanks, is there any special configuration that needs to be done aside from the DHCP?

No, not really, other than perhaps using the "setroute" keyword to automatically set the ASA's default route to the gateway that is pushed down via DHCP from the cable provider.
