We have a terminal session to a remote data farm that houses an application server and a SQL 2005 server.  Both servers are Windows 2003 server SP1.  We use RDP to manage the two server and running an application from the app server that pulls data from the sql box.  My problem is the application interface within the RDP session on the app server freezes.  I see the program running in the background using the task manager.  When the application is finished processing the data the interface unfreezes and we are able to work with the program again.

I have to work most of the time in RDP session in my office...so, would say there are two possible reason...

1) One weired thing I have noticed about RDP is that if you copy something large and clipboard support on in the session, it tries to copy the data/file across.

2) the process you are talking about is using too much CPU. So, when this process consumes all the cpu, the process which updates the screen doesn't get time to refresh. Try to run it with low priority. Use process explore to change the priority.

I have faced both these problems. so, keep the clipboard off and run my application with lower priority if I am aware that they will eat up all the CUP.
