Schedule outlook calendar event from web page

I need to have a clickable link from a webpage insert as a calendar event in a Outlook calendar.  How do I achieve this?

If I understand your question correctly, you can just open up a new Calander event and then select Insert and click on Hyperlink. Then just type the text you want it to display in the "Text to Display" area and put the URL of the website to link it to in the address space. Hope this helps.

I need to create a hyperlink on a standard html page that opens the users outlook and inserts the event actually.  Can this be done?

It looks like I need to generate an .ics file to do what I need:

This website pointed me in the right direction...
