Adobe developer toolbox email error

Hi Exprets

I am using the adobe developers toolbox and I am sending an email from a form that inserts the data into the database. The problem I am having is when the transaction executes it fails because the email is being stopped by the server from sending the email. I would like to know if anyone has come across the following error

Error:
Error sending e-mail.
Developer Details:
E-mail couldn't be sent. Error returned: Failed to send data [SMTP: Invalid response code received from server (code: 503, response: valid RCPT command must precede DATA)]. (EMAIL_FAILED)

I have sent this to my service provider and they insist it is the source code. If you use a simple mailer for php it sends the email.
I am sure it is probably a setting but am not sure. If anyone has come across this error and knows how to tweak the code of change the settings please let me know.

Ideally I would like to use the toolbox as the mailer should work as it is a standard VPS Linux server with PHP that I am using

Please Help

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt,

Questions:

Are you using PHP?

Did you use the Developer Toolbox Control Panel to configure a SMTP server?

Okay, first thing is unset that control panel option...blank out the mail options.  If you set it, you will use the mail server specified and there may be security in place preventing the operation.  If you leave the options unset, the Developer Toolkit will use either mail() or a PEAR function to send the mail and that normally works.

Glad it works.  You must be new to the InterAKT stuff (the company that did this before Adobe bought them out)...this is one of their "gotchas" that is sort of widely known.  The ASP and CF versions of the Toolkit do need you to fill out those fields, but PHP doesn't.

Its a buggar as I come from an ASP background and I am a cook when it comes to PHP so it is all new thus double the frustration.

Thanks once again
