Remote user unable to access domain shares while connected to the VPN
I have a remote laptop user (WinXP SP2) that is connecting back to the corporate office via a watchguard mobile VPN. The user establishes the connection to the home office without error. I am able to ping (via IP) and connect with RDP to any workstation/server on the network, I'm also able to connect to any share on my DC (SBS 2003 SP2 Server) but can not connect to shares on my file server (2003 Std.). Whats weird is when I connect to shares on my DC i'm prompted to authenticate but when I try to connect to my file server I am not, i've never had this problem in the past. The error i'm receiving is listed below:
"\\<Servername>\<Share> is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.
Access Denied."
Could someone please help!

Is the computer part of the domain?
If not add a DNS Suffix to it.
You can go to my computer properties to do so.

yes I have. that is the only way I could connect to the remote computers through the VPN unless I modified the local host file.
I don't understand why I wouldn't be prompted for authentication when attempting to access the remote file server.
