Help, Error in Alt-N MDaemon (mail-server)

My mail server Alt-N MDaemon for Windows, can't download any mail. It always show this error message: "ERR Can't get lock.  Mailbox in use.”
Can you help me?

It can NOT logon to POP3 mailbox to download emails.

Try to connect to that POP3 mailbox via command, and see if you can log in successfullly.

First thing I would try is to restart Mdaemon.

Does the problem affect all mailboxes?

I have restarted MDaemon but no avail, i have also restarted the server and still didn't worked.

So I want to know more about your error: 1.you can not download emails from Mdaemon using email clients ( Outlook Express, Outlook, Thunderbird..), or 2.Mdaemon can not download emails from a POP3 mailbox ( mail offline)

If 1. since POP3 via telnet is okay, you just make sure the POP3 server setting in Email clients is correct. This value should be the Mdaemon server IP or name. Port POP3 usually 110 ( as you can telnet)

If 2. Try to reconfigure DomainPOP in Mdaemon with correct settings: IP of the server hosting Offline mailbox, along with the username/pass to collect email from it.

Notice : Mdaemon provides realtime logs for SMTP/POP3 connection, so you may want to check the routing tab, mail tab.... for further information. Event Log should be examined for any error related to Mdaemon services.

i have contacted the administrator of the server hosting, he said to me that my mdaemon was disconnected while downloading very large email and the session still remain on the server. That session caused error "ERR Can't get lock.  Mailbox in use" and all of the mail can't be downloaded.
Now, mdaemon can download just as usual. Thx.

Weddeh,

So we can figure out that the problem is the unstable connection while downloading very large email from server, which may prevent Mdaemon to be able to download other smaller email messages.

- You may want to ask the administrator of host server to enable some settings that may improve the situation:

1. Enable POP DELETE command immediately remove messages from mailbox. ( Setup -> Mislcellaneous Options -> tab Servers)This will help your MDaemon not to download single messages several times, due to bad network connection.
2. Decrease SMTP and POP session inactivity timers: this will help your Mdaemon to reconnect successfullly to your hosting mailbox. ( Setup -> Primary Domain -> Timers )

- And on your server, verify that the option is checked " Download messages according to size ( small messages first) ( Setup -> DomainPOP-> tab Account)

To solve this error properly, you should consider ways to improve the internet connection, at least to your mail hosting server. Here I am fine when downloading emails up to 7Mb, via 4Mbps DSL line
