Sony laptop boot problem and vista

hi, everyone
I got a sony laptop last week (VGN-NR110E)
the preinstalled OS was vista home, but i decided to upgrade vista ultimate.
after i installed vista ultimate, i saw that the wireless adapter (Atheros AR5006X) is not working.
i installed the driver, uninstall and re install again didn't work,
and then i searched the sony website and figured out that my wireless adapter is not supported by vista ultimate. the technical person from sony told me that i shouldn't install any other OS.
because the laptop was shipped with preinstalled vista home, and he said i have to keep it.
but i already installed the vista ultimate, and didn't create any vista home recovery.

what i want to do  is to reinstall the vista home, or go back to the factory settings. The sales person told me that i have to purchase a recovery cd from Sony and recover with that to go back the original settings?
from here;
Is there any other way to recover my os?
if i install vista home, do you think it works good?
(i tried to boot with different os ; xp home, xp pro, linux : none of them worked.)
vista ultimate works good, but wireless driver is not working
when i got the laptop with preinstalled vista home, everything was working, so this is the only reason i want to go back to the home edition.
what i understand from my search and technical support person, this laptop is only designed for vista home.So if i try to install any other OS, this problem appears.
any comment or help would be great. Thank you.

ASKER

thanks
i didn't look at the version(32 bit or 64 bit OS)

so if it is okay then, how can see which OS i installed
how can i see the version of my OS.
Hit these keys

Windows+Pause/break

It will bring up the System Properties and tell you your OS and System type.
thanks again
i see that is 32 -bit os, when i get time i ll try to install vista home
now with ultimate everyhting is working great except wireless, i installed drivers
but still wireless is not working
when i install the home edition, i will let you know
thanks.
When you say it doesn't work - you mean the device in device manager says its not working or that you can't find a network?
hi,
I am in the wireless area, and don't have any problem with wireless network.

the status now;     ( VGN-NR110E)
installed OS is Vista Ultimate
the only problem  is wireless driver is not working

1. When i install and run  the wireless driver from Sony website, nothing changes, the wireless driver still appears with the exclamation mark.
and also get this this error after driver installation: ""THIS UPDATE CAN ONLY RUN ON MICROSOFT VISTA""

**Error in the driver properties:""This device cannot start(Code 10)

now i think i should go back to vista home premium. check this out:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNNR110E&upd_id=3053&os_id=28

if you click on the ""see applicable models", you might see that my laptop (VGN-NR110E) wireless driver is only supported by Vista Home/

Maybe tonight i will install the HOme edition and see the result.
after you check the link, let me know what your recommedations

thanks a lot again.

yes, you are right
sony shows vista ultimate is not supported, but this website shows it is supported

i downlaoded the driver, and it works great

you said above "You are bypassing restricted driver policy if you go this route"
if there is available drivers, why they don't allow us to download it.  i also talked to the technical support person, he never mentioned this, and also said i need to go back to home edition
what is the deal with that, anyway thank you for all the help.
thanks again.
