Configure SMTP and POP3 support for exchange 2003 while using owa

Hello All,

I have exchange 2003 in a 2003 AD forest. Exchange is setup using a frontend and backend senario. Users are able to access emails over the web through owa.

I have some remote users who would like to use pop3 accounts to logon and download emails from  the same exchange server. I would like to setup SMTP and POP3 services for this and also have it as secure as possibel. Any ideas on where to start?

you will have to start the and pop3 service on both servers

install a second smtp virtual server on both servers

install a citificate and apply it to both virtual servers (pop3 and the new SMTP) so they use SSL

open ports 465 for secure SMTP  and 995 for POP3

but if they just want to download their email using POP3 only need to configure that
