I am trying to upgrade one existing WSS 2.0 site, to WSS 3.0 site, by creating a brand new site, then attach and upgrade the existing WSS 2.0 DB.  I tried running the following command: stsadm -o addcontentdb -url -databasename -databaseserver, but get the following errors below.  I configured the site not to use Search service as well.

[SPContentDatabaseSequence] [ERROR] [11/28/2007 10:34:18 AM]: Action 3.0.2.0 of Microsoft.SharePoint.Upgrade.SPContentDatabaseSequence failed.
[SPContentDatabaseSequence] [ERROR] [11/28/2007 10:34:18 AM]: The Microsoft Search service cannot be administered under the present user account
[SPContentDatabaseSequence] [ERROR] [11/28/2007 10:34:18 AM]:    at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection)

Any ideas?

the second error listed sounds like an authentication problem

http://benchristian.com/archives/93.html (has to do with MS CRM, but the concept behind the problem is similar)

basically, you should review your sql & sharepoint service accounts

The services accounts are identical.  Does anyone know how to remove the Search feature in WSS 3.0?

Found the problem.  Didn't have rights to the Full Text Catalog.  Deleted it, and it worked.
