Issues using Blackberry Pearl in Japan - what can Blackberry users do when traveling to Tokyo?
Our company president uses a Blackberry Pearl. He travels internationally fairly often. He was in Tokyo for the first time since receiving the Pearl, and he said he could not make/receive calls.
After doing some research and speaking to AT&T and RIM, it seems the issue is that the Pearl uses the 1900Mhz frequency, but the primary carrier in Japan runs a 2100Mhz network.
The situation leaves me with many questions, but I guess have only one concern: what's the best option I have the next time this user travels to Japan?
There must be countless numbers of Blackberry users who travel to Japan on business. I'm wondering how they overcome this issue.

AT&T mentioned a partner that would offer a rental unit while user was in Japan: www.cellhire.com\att
I'm wondering if there's value in that or if I should just buy another to be used only in Japan.
