I have a query insert that I am using to copy a record. Is there a way in ColdFusion that I can add additional text to a field. For example I have a description field and I would like to add "Copy of" at the head of this field.

You could modify your query to append the value.  The exact syntax may be database dependent

<cfquery ...>
    INSERT INTO YourTable ( ColumnA, DescriptionColumn)
   SELECT   ColumnA,  'Copy of'+ DescriptionColumn
   FROM      YourTable
   WHERE    ID =   #IDOfOriginalRecord#
</cfquery>
