Sysprep and NEWSID process breaks my apps

We are creating VMWare copies of a development machine running Windows Server 2003 and a bunch of .NET development tools.  After running sysprep and NEWSID, and renaming the copy, the applications break.

Looking at the event log, we see SQL login failures for the NT authority\Network Service account .  This account has full priveleges on the local SQL server.

The Network Service account has caused no end of issue with people.  It's a lower rights account that gives Services rights to work, but not too much.

I have yet to figure out how to reset this password, however you can change the logon account to the SYSTEM account - although this give the service a LOT of unnecessary power.

I'll see if I can get more info on resetting the Network Service account since I run across this problem quite a bit.

Oh, BTW - there is NO NEED to run NewSID after Sysprep - as Sysprep resets the SID already.

Thanks.  Let me know if you figure out how to reset the password.
