Burn DVD/CD on laptop, pictures are in order, take to my DVD movie player then all mixed up.

I have a CD with 256 picture files in a folder.   The files are in order.  
I play the CD in my CD/DVD player hooked up to my TV and they are not in order.
I uploaded this CD to a laptop and they show in order.
I went to burn to a DVD and they are not in order.
Any ideas or suggestions?

I just want to run a in-order slide show on my tv using my dvd player.

What make and model is your DVD player?  It could be your player has some sort of shuffle feature to the picture show.
