linux hangs while booting after chaing the ip address

Dear SIr/Madam:

I have mail server running with public ip now implemented  another linux box as a firewall and done the PREROUTING for the mail sever for the private ip after this , in the mailserver changed from public ip to the private ip then restarted the mailserver mail server hangs prompting Starting MailScanner , i had installed the MailScanner , how to solve this problem please help me.

well first you should show us the logs so that we can help you when you start mailscanner did you check

tail /var/log/messages

for any error messages

Thanks for the reply , booted through interactive mode and did not allow the MailScanner to start then logged into the system and edited the ip then restarted the network , it working fine .
