using a horizontal scroll bar in safari 2.0.4

Were using a horizontal scroll bar to help visitors scroll through thumbnails. Setting the div width and its attribute to overflow x works prefectly on every browser including ie7. The only problem is it doesnt work on safari 2.0.4

does anyone know a fix please

overflow: auto;
overflow-y: hidden;
overflow-x: auto;
