Intranet question: have http://helpdesk:8080 want to have access to http://helpdesk

There is probably a very easy answer to this question.  But not sure of the proper terms to ask so here goes.  We are running an internal helpdesk website on our intranet.  To access it, you go to:  http://helpdesk:8080  I want the access to just be:  http://helpdesk

Its on a MS Windows 2003 server, but the application is not using IIS.  The web server is built into the helpdesk software...

Thanks.

Hello teamorange,

In this case, the software might have an option to change the default port it uses.  Sometimes it is an obscure setting or command line switch or something.  Look in the documentation, in the configuration and if you have support from the vendor contact them it should be an easy question.  If it is the annoyance of typing :8080, maybe just make a shortcut and copy it to their PCs.  Otherwise it depends on the software you are running.  I have never seen software that wouldn't let you change the default port but it might not be an obvious change.

Yeah I have been in contact with them about this, still waiting for a response.  If anything I agree would be within the software, but I don't see it, lol...  thanks.
