Looking for a fix, quicktime errors out

I've reloaded QT 7.3 multiple times on my Vista Ultimate machine.  ITunes runs fine.  I've tried loading QT w/wo PRO....I've tried as suggested here to install it as an Administrator....continue to receive the same error 46: Can not load or find Quicktime activex......andy other ideas?

I am not very well versed on the registry in Windows Vista, but you should try uninstalling quicktime AND itunes, and deleting any records of the two in the registry, I could probably let you know how to better do this in windows XP. Also check your My Documents folder for any leftover system files relating to quicktime or itunes and delete them. Other good places to look for leftover files in XP are as follows: (They should be quite similar in vista)

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data

For this one, make sure you can view hidden files (you can make sure by visiting folder options in the control panel)

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data

Also see if there is anything relating to itunes in the C:\Program Files directory and the C:\Program Files\Common Files directory.

Then try re-installing both programs. Let me know what happens and how your luck was.

Jeffiepoo:
Thanks for the suggestions...however I'm hesitant to remove ITUNES as I've had serious issues in the past getting it reloaded (previous versions on other OS). In addition I have a huge library and know from experience that it takes hours to reload it if I reinstall....I certainly agree that this issue is probably a cross app conflict and that I'd probably be successful in resolving it following your suggestion; for now I'll just use another computer for any QT PRO work and leave ITunes alone on this machine.  There are enough inquires on Apple's forum that perhaps they'll respond with a resolution other than reload.  I appreciate youur response and have done all but reload Itunes...in other words, I'm holding off until either Apple responds to their forum or I have the time and effort to go thru this process...i.e. level of frustration reaches boiiling point.
Thanks

This issue is unresolved. Apple and MS are blaming each other and QuickTime does not work on many Vista PCs.
