Missing COMRes.dll file causing repeating error messages in Windows XP Home
I have an error message pop up when I log in to WIndows XP home:
Window title is "MSMSGS.EXE - Unable to Locate Component"
Message is "This application has failed to start because COMRes.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"
I saw this file get deleted by CHKDSK during boot up (will be logging a separate question for that issue, because I think it's recurring!). For this question, I'm just interested in replacing the missing dll file.

ASKER
expand [cd-drive]:\i386\comres.dl
(ie with a space then a dot on the end of the command, to specify the destination)
I then needed to rename the file from COMRes.dl_ to COMRes.dll
Thanks very much for your help!
