Interoperability of backup data between NetBackup and NTbackup

Is it possible to write a backup tape with NetBackup 6.0 MP3 and be able to read it using NTbackup?

This is useful in case the NetBackup server itself crashes and there is an immediate need to recover the data with simple Windows tools without having to reinstall NetBackup

Thanks

No ... NTbackup is not compatible with any other backup software.  Different version of NTbackup are not even compatible with each other.

In fact we are using NetBackup to backup normal Windows NTFS data folders to tapes using a tape library
The concern is if the NetBackup servers itself or the tape library itself becomes inaccessable for any reason
Is that a dead end for us?

Hi,

not really. You can install NetBackup on another server, connect the tape library that server merge the information the tapes and restore.

As you will not have that backup server but we do have other servers which can be installed with that version or higher version of the same software and perform the restores.  Till you rebuild the old server.
