In ASP.NET 2.0 with C# I have a master page with menucontrol.
The navigateurl goes to the same content page with different queries.
I want to keep the selection of the menuitemclick , to keep th index.
the menuitemclick in the masterpage is not reached at all. How can I get this index?

Menucontrol in .NET is not that good, you can use other third party menu controls such as
www.sothink.com/product/dhtmlmenu/
it is easy to use and very flexible.

You said you need to highlight the current menu, I do not know milonic have this ability in an easy manner, but using Sothink DHTML Menu Builder, it is too easy.
